Leadership Overview

Leadership is considered the process of managing and/or directing employees to achieve common job functions at a business or organization.  Leaders tend to take on many different roles and have to deal with a diverse workforce.  There are many different challenges associated with managing along with great responsibility.  There are various things that make a good leader.  One of which is to know your limitations and strengths.  Use your strengths to their fullest and continue to grow and learn.  Don't try to be someone you are not.  Use your own style of managing.  It is okay to learn from previous managers but don't try to imitate them.  Be a role model for your employees.  You need to set the bar and make sure that they know where it is set and what your expectations are of them.

 

There are many different managing styles.  You may find one that works well for you while other don't.  Managing employees is a form or art.  At times you need to be able to use several different styles for different individuals.  This takes practice but in time it almost becomes second nature.  Being a good manager means you need to continue to grow and learn, it is important to read information about management and try some of the new ideas.

 

Being a good leader is about earning your employees respect and trust.  They need to know that you are there for them and they will be there for you.
